Pearls Before Swine

PEARLS BEFORE SWINE ART SHOW 2010
These are 2 of my paintings which were accepted for the show. The show represented local talent with both 2 and 3- D art, part of the lighthearted and fun Elgin Hogeye Festival in the small town where I live. Piscine Fantasy was just that, lots of paint and water which in my imagination became some colorful fish at play. Iris Whispers started out with paint on wet paper and then a lifting technique to create the white of the irises, then a little refinement to define some of the petals and leaves. Stay tuned tomorrow when I will show you the third painting and share some exciting news!

  2. I love the iris and the goldfish, too! My saran wrap experiment did not turn out nearly so well! LOL! :) But it was fun trying with you and Jean. I can't wait to see the third painting! I'm so glad you're blogging again - I love seeing your painting and hearing what you're up to!

    We had to park about
2 blocks from the art show -- what a good crowd you had there. Many out of
towners. My sister was impressed with your style of painting. I have to say I
really liked your poi fish and would have given that first prize. The guy who
worked in graphite was also great. The photoghraph on canvas was quite something.
An impressive display and your pix deserved an award.

Darcy, Wow! I can't believe how much you've grown as an artist! Your
entries are so different from each other- beautiful. I wish I lived
closer to come to some of the shows. Am so glad I got to see your studio
    in your house. janet

Saw the show at NWHillls today - very nice. Look forward to having more time to
    look next week.
Loved the iris especially. And the prickly poppies. Got to learn to paint
    white flowers!
